Clarice Starling, a young and brilliant FBI trainee, is sent to Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane to interview Hannibal Lecter, a former psychiatrist and incarcerated cannibalistic serial killer. The bureau believes Lecter’s insight might be useful in the pursuit of a serial killer nicknamed Buffalo Bill, who skins the corpses of his victims – all young women. As another young woman goes missing abducted by Buffalo Bill, the clock starts ticking on what information Starling can get from the manipulative Lecter, who himself has plans of escape.
