Huang Jianxin (China)

Award-winning Chinese director/producer Huang Jianxin is the vice-chairman of the China Film Association. He is considered as part of the Fifth Generation of Chinese filmmakers which includes Zhang Yimou, Chen Kaige and others. His awards include:

Michael J. Werner (USA)

American-born Michael J. Werner is a Hong Kong-based veteran of the international film industry with more than 35 years of experience in international film sales, marketing, production and consulting, specialising in the Asia-Pacific region.

Werner started out at LA-based companies, including Manson International and Cineplex Odeon International. He later worked or consulted for Polygram, IBM, The Sunshine Group/CineAsia and 20th Century Fox International as the co-head of the Asia/Pacific Region. He joined Amsterdam-based Fortissimo Film Sales, as an external consultant in 1995 and became a partner in 2000. Fortissimo Films specialises in independent Chinese, Asian, and global cinema and over the years. Werner has worked with and represented films from numerous award-winning Chinese and Asian filmmakers, including Wong Kar Wai, Tian Zhuangzhuang, Jiang Wen, Fruit Chan, Tsui Hark, Peter Chan, Zhang Yang, Zhang Yuan, Juno Mak, Diao Yinan, John Woo, Terence Chang, Bill Kong, Nansun Shi, Jacky Pang, Kurosawa Kiyoshi, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Pen-ek Ratanaruang, Takashi Shimizu, and Christopher Doyle, among many others.

In recent years, Werner and Fortissimo Films have financed and produced a number of high profile independent films from Asia and around the globe, including The Grandmaster by Wong Kar Wai, Invisible Waves by Pen-ek Ratanaruang, Norwegian Wood by Tran Anh Hung, Springtime in a Small Town by Tian Zhuangzhuang, Tokyo Sonata by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Shortbus by John Cameron Mitchell, and more recently Looking for Grace by Sue Brooks.

Werner, along with his late colleague Wouter Barendrecht, has received numerous awards for their contribution to world and specifically Asian cinema including those given by the Chicago Film Festival, the Bangkok Film Festival, CineAsia, the Hong Kong-based Asian Film Awards, the Udine Film Festival and the Montreal International Film Festival.

Oh Jung-wan (South Korea)

As the chief producer and founder of Bom Film Productions, OH has focused on producing accomplished feature films with a unique style that challenges the conventional ideas of cinema. Bom Film Productions is known for its producer-based production system and creative marketing strategies.

Her filmography with Bom film productions includes the award-winning box office successes MY DEAR ENEMY, COME RAIN, COME SHINE, A TALE OF TWO SISTERS, A BITTERSWEET LIFE, UNTOLD SCANDAL, FOUL KING and many more.

As one of the most prolific and respected producer amongst the South Korean film industry, she is also internationally established being a pioneer in cross-border filmmaking by partnering with filmmakers in Hong Kong and Thailand. She has been on the board and jury member of many prestigious international film festivals and organisations.

Nansun Shi
Nansun Shi (Hong Kong)

Nansun Shi is the Hong Kong producer of such blockbusters as The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate 3D, Young Detective Dee – Rise of The Sea Dragon and The Taking of Tiger Mountain. She was pivotal in the success of Cinema City and Film Workshop, which she founded with internationally-acclaimed producer/director Tsui Hark.

Shi was a member of the international jury at the Berlin Film Festival in 2007 and at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011. In 2013, the French Government honoured her with the title of Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. In August, 2014, the 67th Locarno Film Festival honoured Shi with the Premio Raimondo Rezzonico for Best Independent Producer. Most recently, in 2015, the 17th Udine Far East Film Festival honoured her with the Golden Mulberry Life Achievement Award while the 20th Busan International Film Festival honoured her with the Marie Claire Asia Star Awards’ Special Achievement Award.

Luís Urbano (Portugal)

Luís Urbano is a Portuguese producer who started out as a cultural programmer working across theatre, music, video and cinema. He founded the cultural production co-operative Curtas Metragens, CRL, the organisation behind Portugal’s prestigious Vila do Conde International Short Film Festival. He was one of the festival’s directors and spearheaded the Portuguese short film agency.

In 2005 he joined Sandro Aguilar as partner in O Som e a Fúria, a Lisbon based film production company. Since then, he has produced all films by the aclamed directors Miguel Gomes (Our Beloved Month of August, Tabu, Arabian Nights), João Nicolau (John From) and Sandro Aguilar (Uprise). He produced the last 2 films by the master Manoel de Oliveira, Gebo and the Shadow and The old man of Belém. Regularly is also working with portuguese directors as Salomé Lamas, Ivo M. Ferreira (Letters from war), Manuel Mozos, as well French directores as Eugène Green and F.J. Ossang (9 fingers, recently awarded at Locarno Film Festival), and the Brazilian female director, Petra Costa.

Recently, he co-produced Zama, the come back of Lucrecia Martel (Venice 2017, Toronto and New York International Film Festival), An Yellow Animal, by Felipe Bragança (post-production) and Pedro, by Lais Bodanzky (development).

San Mu

As a famous producer, movie critic, publisher, San Mu began his career as the chief editor of SLAM magazine which is the 1st Chinese magazine about NBA. At the same time, he established Movie View magazine which is the most popular film magazine in China. As the publisher of Movie View Magazine, he made the professional, high-quality depth reports about major international film festivals over 20 years. In 2008, he established Beijing Sen Bo Think Tank Media Company and in charged of the promotion, marketing and sales of films and TV series. With the film business developed, San Mu creates Harbin Ice and Snow Film Festival in the north of Chinese, and becomes a private consultant for Mrs Zhang Ziyi at present.

Today, San Mu and Movie View International cooperate with the major Chinese film festivals, including Beijing International Film Festival, Silk Road Interna- tional Film Festival, etc. He is going to keep working at his dream is to promote Chinese films to the world.

Philippe Carcassonne

Philippe Carcassonne manages Ciné-@, a French film production company established in 1986, co-owned by Carcassonne and the Pierre et Vacances Group. That same company was previously in partnership with PolyGram (as Cinéa, from 1993 to 1997) and with Pathé (as Ciné B, from 1998 to 2006).

He has produced or coproduced more than 67 feature films over 31 years, and worked repeatedly with some significant filmmakers : Claude Sautet (“A Heart in Winter”…), Michelangelo Antonioni (“Beyond the Clouds”), Jacques Audiard (“Read my Lips”…), Patrice Leconte (“Ridicule”, “Man on the Train”…), Denys Arcand (“The Age of Ignorance”)…, Robert Lepage (“The Confessional”…), Sylvain Chomet (“The Illusionist”), Benoit Jacquot (“A Single Girl”…), Anne Fontaine (“Coco before Chanel”…), Noémie Lvovsky (« Camille Rewinds »), Philippe Le Guay (« Florida »), Christopher Hampton (“Carrington”), Coline Serreau(“Romuald and Juliette”), Olivier Assayas (“Fin Aout, début Septembre”), Nicole Garcia (“Le Fils Préféré”)… among many others.

In addition to his producing duties, Philippe Carcassonne has held a number of official positions within the French film industry, such as Commission d’Avance sur Recettes (selective support funding committe), Cinémathèque Française, ACE (Ateliers du Cinéma Européen)…
He currently chairs the Producers’ Committee at Unifrance.
